Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the CSU Silk Road Scholarship 2025, applicants must:
Be a non-Chinese citizen in good health
Hold a Bachelor’s degree (for Master’s) or a Master’s degree (for PhD)
Be under 35 years of age for Master’s and under 40 for PhD programs
Demonstrate strong academic and research capabilities
Meet language requirements:
Chinese-taught programs: HSK Level 4 (minimum score of 180; 260 preferred)
English-taught programs: IELTS score of 6.0 or above, or TOEFL score of 85 or above
Language exemptions are available for native speakers or graduates of Chinese/English-taught programs
Not hold any other Chinese scholarship at the time of application
Application Process
Step 1: Apply to CSU Online Portal
Register on CSU’s International Student Portal
Select Chinese Government Scholarship as your program type
Step 2: Apply on the CSC Platform
Visit the CSC Online Application System
Select “Type B” and use Agency Number: 10533
Documents Required:
Valid passport copy
Degree certificates and academic transcripts
Language proficiency test results
Study or research proposal (at least 1,000 words)
Acceptance letter from a CSU professor (recommended)
Completed physical examination form
Non-criminal record certificate
Two recommendation letters
One-minute self-introduction video
Declaration of no other scholarships
Optional documents: CV, published papers, awards
All documents should be clear, authentic, and preferably scanned professionally.
Step 3: Pay the Application Fee
CNY 500, payable after you pass the initial document review
Step 4: Academic and Final Review
CSU will review your academic background and research proposal
Final decisions will be announced through CSC and CSU online platforms
Step 5: Admission and Visa Processing
Admission letters and visa forms (JW201) will be issued by July 31, 2025
Registration at CSU begins in September 2025
