Fully Funded MAECI Scholarships in Italy 2025–2026

The Italian Government (MAECI) Scholarships 2025–2026 are now open for applications. Offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), these prestigious scholarships support international students and Italian citizens living abroad who wish to study in Italy.

The program promotes international cultural exchange, scientific cooperation, and the global promotion of the Italian language and culture.

Available Programs

Scholarships are available for the following academic levels:

• Bachelor’s Degree / Single Cycle Programs
  For students graduating from designated Italian high schools abroad
  Duration: 9 months

• Master’s Degree (Laurea Magistrale – 2nd Cycle)
  Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree
  Duration: 9 months (renewable)

• AFAM (Higher Education in Arts, Music, and Dance)
  Duration: 9 months (renewable)

• PhD Programs
  Duration: 9 months (renewable upon satisfactory progress)

• Research Projects (Under Supervision)
  Conducted at recognized Italian institutions
  Duration: 9 months

• Advanced Courses in Italian Language and Culture
  Minimum A2 proficiency in Italian
  Duration: 3 months

Scholarship Benefits

• €9,000 total for Bachelor’s, Master’s, AFAM, PhD, and Research Programs (paid in three installments)

• €3,000 for Italian Language and Culture Courses (paid in one installment)

• Health insurance during the stay in Italy

• Possible tuition fee exemption (depends on the institution)

• Access to academic and cultural life in Italy

Special Grants and Initiatives

• Attanasio Grants: For students from Morocco, Nigeria, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, pursuing studies in international relations, development, or human rights.

• Costruiamo il Futuro Grants: For students from Ethiopia, Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia in fields like engineering, economics, computer science, agriculture, or health sciences.

• WikiAfrica Higher Education Initiative: For African grantees working with Wikipedia to promote knowledge on Africa.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants of all nationalities are eligible.

Eligibility Criteria

• Apply through the official portal: Study in Italy

• Must meet the academic requirements for the intended course

• Age limits (as of May 16, 2025):

  • Master’s / AFAM / Language Courses: up to 28 years old

  • PhD Programs: up to 30 years old

  • Research Projects: up to 40 years old

  • Bachelor’s / Single Cycle Programs: up to 23 years old

• Language proficiency:

  • Italian-taught programs: B2 level in Italian

  • English-taught programs: B2 level in English

  • PhD and Research Projects: no language proof unless requested by host institution

1. Visit the Study in Italy Portal

2. Register and complete the application form

3. Upload necessary documents including academic certificates and proof of language proficiency

4. Submit your application before May 16, 2025 (14:00 CET)

Tip: Apply early to avoid last-minute technical issues.

Scholarship Timeline

• Application Deadline: May 16, 2025

• Funding Period:

  • General Programs: November 1, 2025 – July 31, 2026

  • Language Courses: January 1 – September 30, 2026

• Installment Payment Schedule:

  • 1st Installment (€4,500): Starts November 2025

  • 2nd Installment (€2,500): Starts February 2026

  • 3rd Installment (€2,000): Starts June 2026

Important Notes

• Grants are only for full-time, on-site study in Italy

• Not compatible with other scholarships from Italian public institutions

• Selected applicants must be ready to enroll and secure a visa if required

• Presence in Italy is mandatory; absence over 15 consecutive days may affect the grant
